I work with the Caterpillar D6. This bulldozer has been serving me faithfully for 8 years. During this time, I have completely replaced the Caterpillar 7U-8701 tracks, the 7Y-1394 planetary reducer, and have changed the cutting edge of the blade 4U-4371 several times. Despite such a long period of use, the C6.6 ACERT engine runs like clockwork. Overall, the reliability and performance of this machine completely satisfy me. The D6N blade with hydraulic control allows me to quickly and accurately perform all necessary earthworks.

Having used this model straightforwardly for repairs, I can state that the design simplicity makes maintenance practical-the turbocharger replacement process, a focal point, was manageable but could benefit from improved access to smaller components. Observing the control gauges' placement, sometimes it was less intuitive than expected. Nonetheless, the machine's consistent performance hints at reliable design. While comfort during operation was satisfactory, vibration isolation might be something to consider in future iterations.

I recently spent a week using the Caterpillar 428F, and here's my take. First off, I really appreciated the efficient fuel consumption, especially thanks to the engine management system built-in. The improved hydraulic system provided smooth operation, which stood out during tasks requiring fine control. However, the cabin noise was slightly higher than expected, although its ergonomic layout made up for it. Overall, it’s a well-balanced machine.

I had the chance to work with the 966H recently. Its cooling system is designed well, allowing for easy cleaning. Tires are durable, with good traction. A couple of cosmetic issues, like the surface rust, don't impact functionality but should be addressed. Overall, the enclosed cab ensures decent comfort during long shift days.

I recently had the opportunity to operate the Cat 305CR, and it proved to be quite effective for my project needs. The controls were straightforward, aiding in a smooth transition for someone like me. The cab was relatively comfortable with features like air conditioning-though the user interface on the screen could be more intuitive. During use, the machine's hydraulic system supported efficient operation, although I noticed occasional vibrations when using heavier attachments.

Having operated the Caterpillar 140H in various scenarios, I've found it reliable for different tasks. The engine delivers steady power, and it's efficient with fuel. On the downside, noticed a small windshield crack that might get problematic later-minor flaws but worth mentioning. Hydraulics are top-notch, enabling sharp grading adjustments anytime.

I've had the chance to operate one of these Caterpillar 140 machines during a road grading project last season. The enclosed cab makes working under hot conditions much more bearable, and the AC performs adequately. What impressed me more was the machine's hydraulic responsiveness - adjusting the blade happened smoothly without sudden jerks. I did notice, however, that the noise levels inside the cab were higher than I would have liked, mostly when pushing it to its higher horsepower settings. Overall, it’s a reliable grader for those extensive field jobs.

Ran a used CAT 320 on a street rebuild job for a couple months. The engine’s got good grunt, never felt underpowered digging hard clay. Controls feel pretty steady, maybe not as tight as newer models but no surprises. Hydraulics are smooth enough, I didn't run into annoying lag or weird noises which you sometimes get with beat-up machines. Maintenance isn’t a nightmare either, parts aren’t hard to track down. Only thing, it’s not the most comfy cab if you’re running 10+ hours. It’s fine but your back notices by the end of the week. I’d still grab one of these over a lot of the others out there, especially if you’re watching the budget.

Tried out this machine recently. It's efficient; the bucket holds up well under loads without much bouncing. Cab is spacious, and servicing from ground level is a huge convenience. However, joystick steering wasn't as intuitive initially, but it's manageable after getting the hang of it.
